Bulimia Nervosa Obesity is an excess proportion of total body fat. A person is considered obese when his or her weight is 20% or more above normal weight.

It makes you more likely to have conditions including:

  • Heart disease and stroke (high blood pressure and high cholesterol which increase the risk of stroke
  • Type 2 Diabetes
  • Some cancers (colon, breast, kidney, esophagus…)
  • Gallbladder disease and gallstones
  • Osteoarthritis
  • Gout
  • Breathing problems, such as sleep apnea (when a person stops breathing for short episodes during sleep) and asthma.

The Nutritional management of obesity includes food choice changes and nutrition education
